Shutdown & SCotUS Notes ?3

With tomorrow potentially being the last day the federal government remains fully funded, many eyes will be on the meeting that Trump has finally agreed to today.  I'd always expected this would go down to the wire, but it seems more likely than usual that this time around will fail to produce even a temporary resolution.   If so, opinions vary on whether or not we'll get the BLS employment report on Friday morning, but later reports such as CPI on October 15th would probably be impacted a shutdown lasting more than a few days.  Mass firings of government employees have also been threatened for those who still give any credence to presidential press.

This service will be paying more attention to the pending SCotUS cases.  That of course includes the Cook case, where every living former Fed chair has voiced the opinion that the court to keep her in place.  Birthright citizenship will also be of some interest.  However, I reiterate that broader rulings on tariffs, and Humphrey's Executor, which was the precedent on the presidential firing, will have to wait until next year.
