Hyundai ICCU issue strikes again ?3
08:49 08-Oct-26
Right on schedule, the the 12-volt battery in the Ioniq 5 has once again failed without warning, due to the ICCU issue, leaving our family stranded and then paying for towing and a rental car. The Hyundai service center is slow to respond since there was no appointment.
To recap, this is clearly a design flaw that will recur every 2 to 3 years. Sadly, research indicates almost all western designed EVs have some issues. By contrast, aside from still periodically having to reboot the infotainment system to reset the crappy Google Android auto software, my Polestar 2 remains trouble free with a markedly better service experience. Though I admit that could change after this year, once American distribution ban is in effect, lack of failure remains infinitely preferable to required dealer service, and the Volvo association may mitigate future impact. I am discussing the investment implications of all this in conjunction with third quarter delivery numbers on the private side of this blog.
